Journal Post #10

I think I would use surveys in my classroom as a way to get feedback from my students. This is a common practice in colleges, so I don't see why it shouldn't be implemented in high school classes as well. I intend on teaching high school social studies classes and I believe that starting something like this early can help the students gain some understanding of something that they'll encounter in college, as well as give me, as as educator, feedback to see what I can do to improve, what my students like and don't like, and different subject matter that they want to learn about.

I learned from Bria's blog that CPALMS can be really beneficial in classroom settings when considering lesson plans and materials needed for the lessons themselves (Blog Post #4). In her third blog post, Bria discusses cyberbullying. I believe her approach to it with open communication and trust is admirable! In Caitlin's fifth blog post, she discusses the Google Classroom, which I've never heard of. The way she describes it, it sounds very similar to Canvas, but more user friendly, and easy to maneuver for younger classrooms. It sounds really interesting!

My husband has his Bachelor's in cybersecurity and data analytics and is working on his Master's in cybersecurity, so all I hear about all day is tech, tech, tech, haha. I'd like to be more versed in Excel, but I haven't started the next assignment yet, so I'm sure I'll get some experience with that coming up. I'd also like to learn more about servers and computer aided dispatch (CAD) systems, since I work with those everyday at work as a 911 dispatcher.

For Excel, I'll look into the next assignment and go through it with the step-by-step instructions, as well as study the sheets we use at work. We document all arrests, RORs, and Form 52s using Excel sheets.

My husband is currently building an at-home server, so I'll sit with him as he builds it and have him explain it to me.

As for the CAD system at work, lucky for me, my husband is our system administrator and controls the CAD and updates, so he can teach me that too. :)
