Journal Entry #7

For this assignment, I took to my own  alma mater ! I looked at my choir's website, since I was heavily involved in choir. On this website, you're able to see the Chorus Handbook and the schedule for rehearsals, concerts, and assessments. The Seminole County School Board has their own website with a login and I would imagine that having a parental/student/teacher login for that would amass a lot more information regarding contact information or scheduling for the different choirs across the county, rather than just Winter Springs High. Aside from chorus, there's also the athletics webpages of the site. There, you are able to find the students on each team as well as their schedule. As a future educator, I think that using social media, email, and projectors will end up being a big part of my teaching methods. I think social media is an important way to keep students engaged and updated with their information. They're on the websites anyway, so adding one account to fol...

Journal Entry #6

Diigo didn't really seem to have an impact on my education thus far. I don't feel one way or another about it. It was interesting being able to see other people's websites and their comments about them. Being able to annotate the websites was also pretty cool! The website was pretty easy to navigate. Blogging is definitely an easy way to keep track of assignments, rather than turning them all in individually. Blogging in itself, though, also hasn't made any real difference in my education... I like that the blog itself is pretty customizable and I like that we can edit blog posts even after they've been published. Moodle is considered a learning management system. It can be used for in-person classes, online classes, and hybrid classes. It has different games, website hyperlinks, and forums. I would say that Moodle can be very helpful to educators as a tool as it can connect students to each other and their educator, but can also connect educators to each other. I t...

Journal Post #5

Hiya! I've been using Instagram primarily as a part of my PLN for this class, but I did also make a Twitter/X account for this class. As such, I've been monitoring both feeds for different tips and things to make me think a little more thoroughly about education. Following current educators has been beneficial because its given me ideas on classroom organization and lesson plans! @thedaringenglishteacher on Instagram has been particularly interesting to follow because she posts a lot of funny stories about classroom interactions and lesson plans in her English classes for her high school classes. Twitter/X could be useful in the future to connect with other teachers, students, or parents for things like field trip information, general classroom information (instead of sending out newsletters), or just keeping fresh ideas. When I was in high school, we had a Twitter account for each different chorus class to keep up with our different rehearsal schedules, so I think that somet...

Journal Post #4

Hiya! For the Florida Computer Science Standards, I selected grades 9-12 and Body of Knowledge: Computer Science - Personal, Community, Global, and Ethical Impact, Standard 3: Evaluation of digital information resources. At this point in my education, I do feel that I'm prepared to implement this in a classroom setting. I think I'm ready to do this because it's getting easier and easier in this day and age to recognize scholarly and relevant articles, books, or websites than ones that are 'fake news', for lack of better term. I think that recognizing valid sources online is getting easier because now there are websites like Google Scholar, or online libraries, that are open to the public. We're past the point of relying on Wikipedia or other multi-source websites for our information. In regards to CPALMS, I chose 9th-12th grade social studies, standard 22.912.A.1.6 (use case studies to explore social, political, legal, and economic relationships in history). The...
